1. Prepare materials
– Wooden paneling for stairs
– Wood cutting machine
– Handheld screwdriver gun
– Scissors and glue
– Staircase trim
– Rubber hammer, screw, roller
2. Construction and installation
Step 1: Measure and cut the wood planks
First, you need to accurately measure the size of the stair treads and risers to cut the most suitable wooden planks. At the top, you need to measure the entire surface covered including the thickness of the risers.
At the counter-step position, use a pen to draw a straight line so that the concrete edge of the counter-step is the height of the wooden board that needs to be cut, and the length will correspond to the length of the counter-step.
Step 2: Apply glue
Spread the glue evenly over the entire area of the stairs that need to be covered with wood. Then use a rubber hammer to gently tap the panels to fix them firmly.
Step 3: Install stair treads
Install the specialized strip for stairs. After installation, press the strip tightly against the floor to cover the entire gap, ensuring aesthetics. Finally, use screws to fix the strip to the stairs. Install similarly to the baseboard strip.
Step 4. Finishing
Check the adhesion of the strip and the wooden panels. Then clean the stairs, wait for the glue to dry for 24 hours and it can be used.
Notes when constructing stair treads
To ensure the construction of beautiful, quality and safe stair treads, you need to note the following:
– Install the stairs from top to bottom so as not to affect the finished steps.
– Choose wooden floors with many embossed patterns and edges to prevent scratches and slipping.
– For square stairs, it is necessary to adjust the strip so that the protruding edge of the hidden strip touches the inner edge of the wooden surface opposite the stairs.
– When installing, leave a gap of about 10mm between the wooden treads and the opposite treads to allow the wood to expand. This helps you avoid warping and damage to the wood when the weather and temperature change.
